How It Works

A Class 1 Medical Device; for use by the professionals and public. A close fitting product worn comfortably during exercise to provide support and stability to the lower back and core muscle groups. It increases blood flow to the injured area and provides even compression to the lower back; its unique shape allows it to be worn comfortably underneath clothes. Once fitted it moulds to the shape of the body, remaining in place during low and high intensity levels of exercise — helping cyclists suffering lower back pain, or wanting protection from future injuries.

Materials & Construction

MADE IN THE UK from a high density 3mm fabric (90% neoprene rubber, 10% nylon polyester), a firm but flexible material providing support to the body's core muscles without restricting movement.

Background & Story

Now the “go to” lower back belt for cyclists on the road, trails, gravel or downhill. Tested in the UK and put through its paces in the Haute-Savoie region of France, around Lake Annecy and the French Alps — staying supportive and flexible in and out of the saddle, so much so riders forget it's on. Testers also found they could work harder for longer, an unexpected bonus.

Our Story

Founded in Yorkshire

Our Story

VertiBaX was founded by Angus Macnab, following a road traffic accident in 2000 that left him managing persistent lower back pain.

Drawing on his background in biochemistry and as a gym instructor, Angus developed a Core Lumbar range of lower back belts and supports — designed to warm the core muscles using natural body heat, while stabilising the lower back at the L5/S1 level of the spine.

After five years of development, VertiBaX officially launched in 2006. In 2010, the VB119 passed through the Boots Centre for Innovation and became a trusted lower back pain management aid.

Beyond His Own Pain

Helping many more since

Beyond His Own Pain

What started as a solution for Angus's own pain has since grown to help many others: VertiBaX went on to work alongside paediatric physiotherapists caring for children with cerebral palsy, developing a child back support belt now used in NHS clinics across the UK.

Today, VertiBaX is MHRA-registered as a manufacturer of Class 1 orthopaedic support devices — still designed in Yorkshire, made in Cornwall, and still owned and run by Angus.
