This is a strong lower back support, with four removeable rigid, but flexible polymer stays; allowing the level of support and bracing to be adjusted as required. It therefore provides variable levels of stabilisation  to the lower lumbar region and core muscle groups of the back. This provides high level to medium level lower back support, protecting the lower back from injury during activity, whilst also fitting under clothes (UK delivery £3.95).

How It Works

A Class 1 Medical Device. Anatomically identical to the Core Lumbar Active Support, but with four additional rigid, flexible removeable polymer stays, allowing the level of support and bracing to be adjusted as required and providing varied levels of lower back support. A close fitting product worn comfortably during periods of heavy exercise, increasing blood flow to the injured area and providing even compression support; can be worn underneath work clothes.

Our Story

Founded in Yorkshire

Our Story

VertiBaX was founded by Angus Macnab, following a road traffic accident in 2000 that left him managing persistent lower back pain.

Drawing on his background in biochemistry and as a gym instructor, Angus developed a Core Lumbar range of lower back belts and supports — designed to warm the core muscles using natural body heat, while stabilising the lower back at the L5/S1 level of the spine.

After five years of development, VertiBaX officially launched in 2006. In 2010, the VB119 passed through the Boots Centre for Innovation and became a trusted lower back pain management aid.

Beyond His Own Pain

What started as a solution for Angus's own pain has since grown to help many others: VertiBaX went on to work alongside paediatric physiotherapists caring for children with cerebral palsy, developing a child back support belt now used in NHS clinics across the UK.

Today, VertiBaX is MHRA-registered as a manufacturer of Class 1 orthopaedic support devices — still designed in Yorkshire, made in Cornwall, and still owned and run by Angus.
